Bitmap Graphics

Bitmap graphics are one of the two types of graphics. The other being vector graphics. Bitmap graphics are made up of a number of pixels of different colors, were as vector graphics are made up of a number of objects.

Bitmap graphics are created when a person takes a photo on a digital camera or scans a image on a scanner.  The picture is made of many different colored pixels which is possible to edit. Bitmap images are large due to the amount of memory it stores on each individual pixel. When zooming into a bitmap image it tends to loose quality. This is due to the size of the colored pixels when viewing the image at a distance the eye is fooled and thinks it is a good quality image, however when closer the eye notices that it isn't.
